How can I get a high score in Solitaire?

Start by exposing face-down cards — prioritize moves that turn over hidden cards in the tableau. Every card you reveal increases your options and potential scoring moves.

Move cards to the foundation when it's safe, but avoid sending cards to the foundations too early if they block useful tableau plays. In many Solitaire rulesets, careful timing of foundation moves yields higher final scores.

Create and keep empty columns whenever possible. Empty tableau columns are powerful because only a King (or a King sequence) can be placed there — saving a free column gives you space to reorder and free more cards later.

When choosing which sequence to move, prefer the play that unlocks the most hidden cards or keeps long descending sequences intact; preserving long alternating-color runs often lets you build larger sequences that score better.

Use the undo and think ahead — if your version allows it, try alternative moves and compare outcomes. Planning two or three moves ahead prevents accidental dead-ends that lower your score.

In timed or scoring variants, speed and efficiency matter: minimize pointless moves and prioritize plays that clearly increase score or reveal new cards. Also learn the scoring rules of your Solitaire version so you can optimize moves that give bonus points.

Practice and review — the more you play, the better you’ll recognise patterns and strong opening plays. Over time you'll learn which moves tend to lead to high-scoring finishes.
