Introduction to 666 Rummy
666 Rummy is a fast-paced and strategic card game variation of traditional Rummy, played with 2-6 players. The name "666" comes from its unique rule of allowing up to 6 cards in a set (instead of the usual 3-4), adding extra complexity and excitement. The goal is to form valid melds (sets or runs) and be the first to discard all your cards while minimizing penalty points.
How to Play 666 Rummy
Setup
Players: 2-6
Deck: 1-2 standard decks (with Jokers as wild cards if desired).
Deal: Each player gets 6 cards (or 7 cards in some variants). The remaining deck forms the draw pile, and one card is placed face-up as the discard pile.
Objective
Arrange your cards into valid melds:
Sets: 3-6 cards of the same rank (e.g., 6♥, 6♦, 6♣).
Runs: 3+ consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., 4♠, 5♠, 6♠).
Gameplay
Draw: On your turn, pick a card from the draw pile or the discard pile.
Meld/Lay Off:
Place valid melds face-up on the table (optional in early rounds).
Add cards to existing melds (yours or opponents').
Discard: End your turn by discarding one card to the discard pile.
Winning
The round ends when a player goes out by melding/discarding all cards (some variants require a final discard).
Others tally penalty points for unmelded cards (face cards = 10, Aces = 1, number cards = face value).
Play multiple rounds until a player reaches a pre-set score (e.g., 100 points) or the lowest score wins.
Special 666 Rule
In some versions, a set of 6 identical cards (e.g., 6x Jokers) acts as an automatic win or awards bonus points.
Tips
Prioritize high-value cards to shed early.
Watch opponents' discards to guess their melds.
