Rummy West – Introduction
Rummy West is a thrilling variation of the classic Rummy card game, infused with a Wild West theme. Designed for 2–6 players, it combines strategy, luck, and fast-paced gameplay as players compete to form sets and runs while outmaneuvering opponents in a showdown-style setting. Perfect for casual and competitive players alike!
How to Play Rummy West
Objective
Be the first player to discard all your cards by forming valid sets (3–4 cards of the same rank, e.g., 7♥, 7♠, 7♦) or runs (3+ consecutive cards of the same suit, e.g., 5♣, 6♣, 7♣).
Setup
Use a standard 52-card deck (add a second deck for 4+ players).
Each player draws 7 cards (10 cards if playing with 2 players).
The remaining cards form the draw pile; the top card starts the discard pile.
Gameplay
Draw: Begin your turn by drawing one card from the draw pile or picking up the top discard.
Meld/Lay Off:
Meld: Place valid sets/runs face-up on the table (minimum 30 points for the first meld; face cards = 10, Aces = 1, number cards = face value).
Lay Off: Add cards to existing melds (e.g., add 8♣ to a 5♣-6♣-7♣ run).
Discard: End your turn by discarding one card to the discard pile.
Special Rules (Wild West Twist!)
Sheriff’s Call: Declare "Sheriff’s Call" to steal the discard pile’s top card before an opponent draws it.
High Noon Showdown: If the draw pile runs out, the discard pile is shuffled to form a new draw pile once.
Winning
The first player to discard all cards shouts "Draw!" and wins the round. Others tally points for remaining cards (penalty points). Play multiple rounds until a player hits the agreed target (e.g., 100 points).
