What is 334 Rummy?
334 Rummy is a variation of the classic Rummy game, typically played in India. The name "334" refers to the required combination structure that players must form before declaring:
3 cards (Group/Sequence)
3 cards (Group/Sequence)
4 cards (Group/Sequence)
The main objective is to arrange your 10 cards into these three valid sets/sequences (3+3+4) and then discard the last card to declare.

How to Play 334 Rummy
Players: 2–6
Deck: 1 or 2 standard decks with Jokers (depending on the number of players)
Cards per Player: 11 cards (10 for grouping, 1 for discarding)
1. Objective:
Arrange your 10 cards into:
Two groups of 3 cards each
One group of 4 cards
Each group must be a valid set (same rank, different suits) or a sequence (consecutive numbers, same suit).
2. Valid Combinations:
Sequence: 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g.

4–

5–

6)
Set (Triplet or Quartet): 3 or 4 cards of the same rank, different suits (e.g.

9–

9–

9)
Jokers: Can substitute any card, but at least one pure sequence (no Joker) is usually required
3. Gameplay:
Each player draws one card (from the draw or discard pile)
Then discards one card
When a player has 10 cards grouped into a 3+3+4 structure, they discard their 11th card and declare
4. Winning:
The first player to declare a valid 3-3-4 grouping wins
If the declaration is invalid (wrong structure or invalid groups), penalties apply

Key Points & Tips

Declaration Structure Must Be 3-3-4 — no other grouping is allowed.

Pure sequence may be required depending on house rules (especially if using Jokers).

Use Jokers wisely — they can help form sets, but don’t rely only on them.

Watch opponents' moves — avoid discarding cards that help complete their groups.

Invalid declarations can cost you — always double-check your sets before calling.
