Rainbow Rummy: A Colorful Twist on the Classic Card Game
Introduction:
Rainbow Rummy is a vibrant and engaging variation of the traditional rummy card game, designed for 2-6 players. With its focus on colorful sets and sequences, this game adds a fun visual element while testing strategic thinking and quick decision-making. Perfect for family game nights or casual play, Rainbow Rummy is easy to learn but offers plenty of depth for seasoned players.
How to Play:
Setup:
Use a standard 52-card deck (add a second deck for 4+ players).
Each player is dealt 7 cards. The remaining cards form the draw pile, with the top card flipped to start the discard pile.
Objective:
Be the first to form two valid combinations (either sets or sequences) using your cards.
A set consists of 3-4 cards of the same rank but different suits (e.g., 7♥, 7♦, 7♣).
A sequence is 3+ consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., 5♠, 6♠, 7♠).
Gameplay:
On your turn, draw a card (from the draw pile or discard pile), then discard one to end your turn.
Form and lay down valid combinations face-up once you have them.
You may add cards to existing combinations (yours or opponents’) to reduce your hand.
Rainbow Twist:
For an extra challenge, assign bonus points for "rainbow sets" (one card of each color: red ♥♦ and black ♠♣ in a set).
Winning:
The round ends when a player melds all their cards (with one final discard). Others tally points for unmatched cards.
Play multiple rounds until a player reaches a set score (e.g., 100 points). The lowest score wins!
