Introduction to Rummy (Rummy Dhan):
Rummy, also known as Rummy Dhan in some regions, is a popular card game that combines skill, strategy, and a bit of luck. It is played with a standard deck of 52 cards (plus jokers, if used) and can be enjoyed by 2 to 6 players. The objective is to form valid sets and sequences by drawing and discarding cards. Rummy is not just entertaining but also enhances cognitive skills like memory, decision-making, and quick thinking.
How to Play Rummy (Basic Rules & Gameplay):
Objective:
Arrange all your cards into valid sets and sequences before your opponents do.
Sequence (Pure & Impure):
Pure Sequence (Mandatory): 3+ consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., 4♥-5♥-6♥).
Impure Sequence: 3+ consecutive cards of the same suit with a joker/wild card (e.g., 7♠-8♠-Joker).
Set: 3 or 4 cards of the same rank but different suits (e.g., 8♣-8♦-8♠).
Gameplay Steps:
Dealing: Each player gets 13 cards (for 2 players) or 10 cards (for 3+ players). The remaining cards form the draw pile, and one card is placed face-up as the discard pile.
Drawing: On your turn, pick a card from the draw pile or the discard pile.
Arranging Cards: Try to form sequences/sets by grouping cards in your hand.
Discarding: End your turn by discarding one unwanted card to the discard pile.
Declaring Rummy: Once you’ve arranged all cards into valid sets/sequences (with at least 1 pure sequence), place your final card face-down and declare "Rummy!"
Winning:
Your hand is verified; if valid, you win the round!
Points are calculated based on opponents’ ungrouped cards (e.g., face cards = 10, number cards = face value, Ace = 1 or 11).
