Rummy vs. Gin Rummy: Key Differences & How to Play
1. Objective
Both games require players to form valid sets (3+ cards of the same rank, e.g., 7♥ 7♣ 7♦) or sequences (3+ consecutive cards of the same suit, e.g., 3♠ 4♠ 5♠).
Rummy: Discard all cards by forming at least 2 sequences, one of which must be pure (no wildcards).
Gin Rummy: Form sets/sequences with all 10 cards ("knocking" with unmatched cards totaling ≤10 points).
2. Gameplay Flow
Deal: 10 cards (Gin) or 13 cards (Classic Rummy) per player.
Draw/Meld: Pick a card from the deck/discard pile, then discard one.
Win Condition:
Rummy: Declare by placing valid sets/sequences on the table.
Gin: "Knock" to end the round (unmatched cards must total ≤10).
