How to Play Rummy (Basic Rules):
Dealing the Cards:
Each player is dealt a certain number of cards (usually 10 or 13, depending on the variant).
The remaining cards form the draw pile, and the top card is placed face-up to start the discard pile.
Objective:
Players aim to form valid sets and sequences:
Sequence (Run): 3+ consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., 5♥-6♥-7♥).
Set (Group): 3+ cards of the same rank but different suits (e.g., 7♠-7♦-7♣).
A valid declaration must include at least one pure sequence (a sequence without a joker).
Gameplay:
On their turn, a player must:
Draw a card from either the draw pile or the discard pile.
Form or improve their sets/sequences.
Discard one unwanted card to the discard pile.
Winning the Game:
The first player to arrange all their cards into valid sets/sequences can declare and win the round.
Other players get penalty points based on their ungrouped cards.
Scoring (Optional):
Face cards (J, Q, K) = 10 points.
Number cards = Face value (e.g., 5♦ = 5 points).
Aces = 1 or 10 (varies by rules).
