Teen Patti Rules: A Clear Beginner’s Guide
Learn Teen Patti rules from the initial deal through hand comparison, including common table terms, hand order, round flow and sensible house-rule checks.
The objective
Teen Patti is a three-card comparison game traditionally played in social groups. Each participant receives three cards. The round develops through agreed table actions, and the remaining hands are compared when the table reaches a show. For a learning session, remove stakes entirely and focus on recognising categories accurately.
Prepare the table
Use one standard 52-card deck without jokers. Agree who deals first, how turns move, whether players may look at their cards, and how a show is requested. Spoken terms vary by family and region, so define them before the first practice hand instead of correcting people midway through a round.
Deal and turn flow
Shuffle, offer a cut and deal three cards face down to each player. A player may remain blind or view the hand according to the chosen house format. Play moves clockwise. In a no-stakes practice round, replace contributions with simple decision tokens or verbal choices so the structure stays clear.
Compare the final hands
First compare categories: trail, pure sequence, sequence, colour, pair and high card. Only when categories match should you apply the category-specific tie break. Do not compare one visually high card across different categories; the category always comes first.
A clean learning routine
Deal several open practice hands and ask every player to name the category before comparing strength. Then repeat with closed hands. This progression builds accuracy without rushing. Use the playable Master Hand, Trio Check and High Card Ladder exercises for immediate repetition.
