Understand equal-number groups, colour uniqueness, expansion limits and common group mistakes.
Build correct groups
A group normally contains three or four tiles of the same number in different colours. Repeating a colour in one group is not valid, even when the number matches. This colour rule is the mistake beginners make most often.
A practical method
Three-tile groups can accept the missing fourth colour. Four-tile groups are complete, but one tile may become useful elsewhere if the remaining three stay legal and the overall table remains valid.
Apply it at the table
Before committing a flexible number to a group, check whether it is the only bridge in a promising run. A legal move is not automatically the most efficient move.
Good Tile Rummy decisions are visible: every tile has one legal place, every rearrangement has a finished plan.
